Environmental Site Assessments

Aspen Environmental provides services to lending institutions and private/municipal sectors in areas such as Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) , sub-surface site investigations, UST/hazardous waste unit removals and closures, and human health risk assessments.  All Phase I ESAs are performed in accordance with the ASTM E-1527-05 standard.  This standard was prepared by the ASTM Environmental Committee to establish the technical requirements to meet the U.S. EPA All Appropriate Inquiry (AAI) rules for property due diligence.  The scope of work for Phase I ESAs can also be modified to meet individual client’s needs including the addition of non-scope business risk items including asbestos, wetlands, and others.

A Phase II is performed if the Phase I indicates potential contamination. The purpose of a Phase II ESA is to collect data from soil, surface water, groundwater or other media to evaluate recognized environmental conditions (RECs) at the site.  This is accomplished through a variety of methods used to investigate, delineate, and characterize subsurface contamination. These methods include GeoprobeTM "direct push" sampling and monitoring well installation. We follow all industry standards for quality assurance/quality control during drilling, sampling, and well installation activities.  Our staff at Aspen Environmental is experienced in evaluating analytical data and determining applicable action levels for the contaminants of concern. We can help you determine the potential need for site remediation and provide an estimate of the associated cleanup costs.
